I arrived home late last night and can't tell you how much I enjoyed my warm bubble bath, my plate of migas, and the comfort of my own bed. No heat, no mosquitos, no loud streets, and no rats crawling on my tent roof! I slept well but woke early to run down the street and give Tristan a hug before school. I missed that boy!
Now it's time for laundry and more packing. I leave for Colorado in 5 hours. I didn't plan it that way--my trip to Haiti was delayed 2 days. Anyway, I'll be decompressing there: enjoying a few days of snowboarding before I'm joined by Tristan and my cousin Bethany. Mom (who moved to Colorado Springs a few months ago) has something exciting planned for the four of us over Spring Break and I can't wait to find out what.
Serving in Haiti was incredible and unlike anything I've ever done. I certainly need some time to process all that I experienced. For now I just want to say "Good Morning" and to thank you for your prayers while I was away. I also want to share a song that really blessed me while I was away--it's the first track on Aaron Shust's latest CD: "To God Alone". God used these words while I was away to talk to me about why He brought me to Haiti. I hope that I can share more about that soon as a continuation of my last post: "Night Reflections". Anyway, I pray it speaks to you too.
To God Alone (follow link to video)
Can You take me by the hand?
Can You use me as I am?
Break me into who You want me to be
When the time is finally right
Will You open up my eyes and show me everything You want me to see?
This life is not my own
To God alone be the glory
To God alone be the praise
Everything I say and do
Let be all for you
The glory is yours alone
Yours alone
Take the offering I bring
You want more than what I sing
Can I give you every part of me?
Turn these pennies into gold
Take this life I call my own
Until I'm running after your heart
I'm needing to let go
We will rise and we will fall
But you remain after all
You're glorious and beautiful
You're beautiful
To God alone be the glory
To God alone be the praise
Everything I say and do
Let it be all for you
The glory is yours alone
Yours alone
Jn 3:30 "He must become greater, I must become less."
